Okay so this is a sequel and will likely contain spoliers for Book 1, The Devil’s Poetry. You can find my review for it here!
Basically, if you have read the first book you need to read book 2. Honestly when I read The Devil’s Poetry I enjoyed it but there was some things that weren’t really my kinda thing, mainly the romance. This is because I am not really a romance type of gal. But On Holy Ground changed my opinion on it and now I am fully down with it.
The main thing I really loved with On Holy Ground was how strong willed Callie is. Does she make the best decisions all of the time? No. But who does? It is what makes her so realistic. She makes the decisions because that is what she thinks is right and that is what is important. I love it so much how Callie is flawed and she isn’t just randomly super talented at everything she does. I think we need more heroines like Callie that really question themselves and their morals and fight for what they believe is right.
Amber is still a character that I loved! Her and Callie’s relationship is amazing and also feels so genuine. They are both two young girls who want to do what is best for themselves and those around them and they are not afraid to fight for it. Everybody needs a best friend like Amber.
And here it is, the game changer in this book for me. Goddamn Louise has made me so invested in this relationship now. To the point where I need book 3, not just to continue this amazing story but also I need to know where their relationship is going! That first line basically got me hook, line and sinker. That first line. I think it is one of the best first lines I have ever read honestly!
The story itself was amazing. A little confusing at times but amazing. I think it was confusing because I was trying to read it so fast because I had to know what happened next. There were so many moments where I was literally gasping at the things that were going down. Also those last few chapters… I don’t think I have read through chapters so fast in my life! My heart was literally racing because of the last few chapters.
So if you want to read a series that will keep you hooked from start to finish this is the one for you! I highly recommend this book and I would like to thank Louise for letting me be a part of all of this it has been amazing!
