This post is going to be different from my other posts but I just wanted to share my views and share some tips and stuff for how I manage doing everything I do.
For those of you who don’t know I am a student currently finishing off my first year. I am doing a foundation degree which means that my course is more assignment based then it is exam based. This means that I spend a lot of my time writing assignments. I also currently work two jobs. When I am back home for the holidays and summer I work 8 – 5. When I am at uni I work most evenings at a local bar. So how on earth do I manage to blog and also read enough to write about books all the time?
The answer to that question is planning. I like to have everything planned. And lists are my best friend. I love a good list. So here are some of my tips for being organised!
Having a Diary
So I am useless at remembering times and dates. I overcome this by buying a diary. I bought mine from amazon for like £1 because I wasn’t sure that it would work for me. However, it does! With uni as soon as I get an assignment I write down the due date in my diary. If we have work for a seminar I put it in the diary. If we are going on a trip, it goes in the diary. Since I use it so often it means that I have to check it often and it reminds that I have things I really should be doing. Since it works so well for me I am looking for a new diary that looks really pretty.
My Mam actually bought me a desk planner this year for Christmas. The one she bought me was a daily planner but I just ignore that and I use the separate columns for different things. The first column is for uni. So this lists all of the work I have to do and for when. The second column I use for reading and blogging. I will write all the books I have to read and the reviews that also need to go up! The third column is for my everyday life things. This is the least used column but it is still nice to have something to help remind me. There is a fourth column. This column doesn’t change as this has all of my reading challenges in for the year. This is just so I know what I should probably be reading and when. Also there is no better feeling than checking things of a list!
I like to post every Monday, Friday and Sunday on my blog. However, I do not have the time to write a blog post on each of those days! That is why I usually write in bulk and then schedule the posts. They always go live at 7pm and I know that every Monday and Friday and general posts and Sunday is for my Six for Sunday posts. Personally, I do not schedule tweets or insta pictures just because my twitter and insta aren’t as serious as I think my blog is.
I love notebooks so much. My boyf got me a notebook which I mostly use to write down notes when I’m reading and write down different blog ideas. I also love having a planner that has lists in it. As we discussed earlier I do love a good list. These are planners such as those made by Old English Company.
